Testification of the Messengership of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم)

This is to second part of the Shahada and is to testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah: It is the belief that Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم) is the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم). As Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) said:

"Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم) is not the father of any man among you but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last (end) of the Prophets and Allah is Ever All-Aware of everything.’ [Quran: Surah al Ahzaab 33: Ayah 40].

"And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم), gives you, take it and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain from it." [Quran: Surah al Hashr 59: Ayah 7]

And Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) said: "Say (O Muhammad to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allah, then follow me.’" [Quran: Surah ali Imraan 3: Ayah 31]

"Say (O Muhammad ): I am only a man like you, it has been inspired to me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God, --i.e. Allah). So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord." [Quran: Surah al Kahf 18: Ayahs 102-110].

A part of the Muslims belief in the Messengership of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم) is that we follow his Sunnah. Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) says: “He who obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah . . .”[QuranSurah al-Nisaa’ 4: Ayah 80]. Here Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) described obedience to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) as being a part of obedience to Him. Then He made a connection between obedience to Him and obedience to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم): “O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger . . .” [QuranSurah al-Nisaa’ 4: Ayah 59].

The belief in the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) is also one of the pillars of Iman, faith, i.e. believing in all the messengers sent by Allah.
